About Family Service Agency
Family Service Agency has become a premier social service agency in DeKalb County and assists nearly 4,000 families, individuals, children and seniors yearly. FSA is able to provide solutions with specialized services through four unique departments: Big Brothers Big Sisters, Center For Counseling, Children’s Advocacy Center and Senior Services
Looking to the future, Family Service Agency will continue to need help to provide professional services to the community. Family Service Agency is dependent on those who contribute through volunteering or financial support.
Big Brothers Big Sisters
For over 40 years, Big Brothers Big Sisters has been in DeKalb County refining the values of one-to-one youth mentoring. The professional staff uses their expertise to match one child with one adult volunteer, paving the way for life-changing impacts and life-long friendship.
The relationships “Littles” share with their mentors positively impact them and carry into other areas of their life. Research indicates “Little Brothers” and “Little Sisters” have higher self confidence, do better in school and improve relationships with peers and adults.
The BBBS program is supported through donations, foundations, United Way agencies and fundraisers such as Bowl For Kids’ Sake.
Children’s Advocacy Center
The mission of the Children’s Advocacy Center is to ensure and support a comprehensive, child appropriate and multidisciplinary response to reports of child sexual or severe physical abuse in DeKalb County. Services provided include forensic interviews; assessment, crisis intervention and counseling services; referral services; case coordination; court advocacy; training; and community education.
The CAC recognizes the right of children to a safe childhood free of abuse or neglect. To this end, the CAC promotes child abuse/neglect awareness and strives to most effectively investigate, treat and prosecute child sexual or severe physical abuse.
Center For Counseling
The Center For Counseling staff is a diverse group of experienced and licensed professionals.
Family Service Agency’s counselors engage in a team effort with clients to gain relief from issues, create meaningful change and work toward personal growth. The process may include aiding in understanding and overcoming difficult life events or stressors, building skills, clarifying life goals, accessing information and/or connecting with resources.
