Goal 2: RepresentationThe Chamber is the voice of the business community, advocating for member businesses on protection and enhancement of the business climate, regulation, taxation, and other relevant issues. Goal 3: EducationThe Chamber provides a variety of meaningful opportunities for Chamber members to become informed about business and community issues and to pursue opportunities for professional development. Goal 4: CommunicationThe Chamber is DeKalb's premier source for information regarding business and community resources and issues, and has several methods of distributing this information in an effective and timely manner. 2008 DeKalb Chamber of Commerce Board of DirectorsThe DeKalb Chamber is lead by a 5-member Executive Committee and is made up of a 24-member Board of Directors.
Get Involved in DeKalb Chamber of CommerceThe DeKalb Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors is looking for volunteers to serve on the many committees that are being formed. Now is your chance to become directly involved in the services, projects and activities that help make the DeKalb Chamber of Commerce a true “customer service” organization. Simply send us an email with the committee(s) you want to be involved in. Service CommitteesAmbassadorsCalls on every member once per year to review Chamber benefits and determine member needs. Ambassadors also act as greeters for the monthly Business Lunch, Business After Hours events, and assist with ribbon-cutting ceremonies. Monthly meetings. Public PolicyIdentify issues, discuss and come back to the board with information to see if the Chamber should take a position. Monthly Meetings. TourismDevelops programs, advertising and promotional material to attract visitors to DeKalb. Event CommitteesThese committees meet regularly during the 3-5 months prior to the event. ATHENA AwardPlans and hosts annual event in November to honor one local business person with the ATHENA Award and one or more businesspeople with the Wo/Man of Accomplishment Award. Activities include soliciting nominations, invitations, media contact, site selection, arranging awards, food, decorations, program, greeting and registration. Business to Business ExpoPlans and hosts trade show event in May, including invitations, site selection, booth space rental and layout, advertising, arranging prizes, food, decorations, program, greeting and registration. Golf OutingPlans and hosts annual Golf Outing in July, including soliciting prizes and hole sponsors, arranging invitations, ticket sales, signage, golf carts, refreshments, dinner, program, greeting and registration. |
